Maria-Isabella Marinelli is a dramatic soprano of Italian-Greek origin, born in Marsicovetere (Potenza), Italy, to an Italian father and a Greek mother. She is fluent in Italian, Greek, and English and performs repertoire in French, German, Russian, Greek, and Armenian.
She began her vocal studies in 2008 and pursued academic studies in Education, graduating from the Faculty of Education at the University of Greece. She continued her musical training at the Athens Conservatory (Odeio Athinon), where she obtained her Diploma in Classical Singing with highest honors, along with diplomas in Harmony and Stage Performance / Melodrama.
In 2011, while still a student, she attended a seminar-audition at the Conservatorio “Giuseppe Verdi” in Milan under the guidance of baritone Roberto Coviello, and performed at the Sala Verdi, interpreting arias by Verdi including Morrò, ma prima in grazia and O patria mia. In the same year, she was awarded First Prize in the soprano category at the Megaron Mousikis of Athens Competition and gave a solo recital at the Christos Lambrakis Hall with a program dedicated to Schubert Lieder.
Between 2012 and 2016, she collaborated in numerous musical and theatrical productions in Greece, including appearances at the Megaron Mousikis of Athens, Handel’s Giulio Cesare, and Beethoven’s Fantasia under the baton of Maestro Loukas Karytinos. During this period, she performed roles from the Mozart repertoire, including Fiordiligi (Così fan tutte), Susanna, and the Countess Almaviva (Le nozze di Figaro) at the Athens Conservatory.
Following the completion of her diploma, in 2016 she worked under the guidance of the legendary soprano Mirella Freni, deepening her interpretative insight and refining her vocal artistry.
In 2017, she participated in an audition in Rome for major Italian opera houses, performing arias by Puccini and Mozart before a panel including conductor Cristiana De Sidi Chiappini and producer Alberto Del Monaco, brother of the renowned tenor Mario Del Monaco, receiving outstanding feedback for the dramatic quality of her voice and her compelling stage presence.
She continued her advanced training in 2018, participating in a masterclass with Mirella Freni at the Teatro Comunale “Luciano Pavarotti” in Modena.
Her career includes solo concerts, operatic appearances, and sacred performances across Greece and Italy. She has appeared at the Teatro Stabile di Potenza, the Megaron Mousikis of Thessaloniki, and the Corfu Festival, performing repertoire by Puccini, Cilea, Tchaikovsky, and Khachatur Avetisyan. She has also performed in Milan and Rome, interpreting repertoire by Wagner and Strauss, receiving acclaim for the power of her voice and the expressive intensity of her stage presence.

She has collaborated with conductors and musicians including Roberto Coviello, Cristiana De Sidi Chiappini, Tito Schipa Jr., Alexandros Mirat, Filippos Tsalahouris, Loukas Karytinos, and, among younger artists, Kostica Çollaku.
